INTRODUCTION
The dimensional data provided may be used as guide in providing proper seal space in new designs as well as comparing seal space requirements when considering the MS36 seals as replacements for other type rotating seals. If the dimensions are not adaptable, we can provide variations in seal length, stationary seat configuration and material to meet your needs. On request we will furnish dimensions for shaft diameters over 4 inches.
MATING RINGS
For optimum sealing and long seal life, NTI mating rings should be used with NTI seals. They are available in a variety of styles and configurations. Consult factory to determine the correct size and type of mating ring to be used with your NTI seal.
IMPORTANT: In cases where the mating ring temperature changes drastically, such as dry starting, it is advisable to use a tungsten carbide metal, mating ring.
GENERAL APPLICATION INFORMATION
Type MS35, is a general purpose, economical balanced seal designed for Navy use in fluid sealing of rotating shafts. Removable spring construction allows for greater variation in operating length using the same seal head assembly. This seal is effective at relatively high pressures and used with a long spring in the seal cavity. Common applications include chemical and sea water pumps.
