BALANCED SERIES GENERAL PURPOSE SEAL FOR GAS OR LIQUID

INTRODUCTION

The dimensional data provided may be used as guide in providing proper seal space in new design as well as comparing seal space requirements when considering the MS34 seals as replacements for other type rotating seals. If the dimensions are not adaptable, we can provide variations in seal length, stationary seat configuration and material to meet your needs. On request we will furnish dimensions for shaft diameters over 4 inches.

MATING RINGS

For optimum sealing and long seal life, NTI mating rings should be used with NTI seals. They are available in a variety of styles and configurations. Consult factory to determine the correct size and type of mating ring to be used with your NTI seal. Cup type seats are also available.

IMPORTANT: In cases where the mating ring temperature changes drastically, such as dry starting, it is advisable to use a stainless steel, ni-resist, tungsten carbide, bronze or other metal mating ring, as ceramic may crack.

GENERAL APPLICATION INFORMATION

Type MS34, is a general purpose, economical balanced seal designed for use in fluid or gas pumps. Spring construction allows for greater variations in operating lengths, using the same seal head assembly. The seal is effective at high pressures due to its balance. Common applications include: chemical, steam, sea water, refinery and fire pumps.

MEDIA

The standard seal can be used with most lubrication oils or water. Certain synthetic oils, and high temperature hydraulic fluids require special materials.
