METRIC SERIES GENERAL PURPOSE SEAL FOR GAS OR LIQUID

INTRODUCTION

The dimensional data provided may be used as guide in providing proper seal space in new design as well as comparing space requirements when considering the MS33 seals as replacements for other type rotating seals. If the dimensions are not adaptable, we can provide variations in seal length, stationary seat configuration and material to meet your needs. On request we will furnish dimensions for shaft diameters over 4 inches.

MATING RINGS

For optimum sealing and long seal life, NTI mating rings should be used with NTI seals. They are available in a variety of styles and configurations. Consult factory to determine the correct size and type of mating ring to be used with your NTI seal. "O" ring mating rings are also available.

IMPORTANT: In cases where the mating ring temperature changes drastically, such as dry starting, it is advisable to use a stainless steel, ni-resist, tungsten carbide, bronze or other metal mating ring, as ceramic may crack.

GENERAL APPLICATION INFORMATION

Type MS33, is a general purpose, economical seal designed for use in fluid or gas sealing of rotating shafts. Removable spring construction allows for greater variation in operating length using the same seal head assembly. This seal is effective at relatively high pressures and can be used with a short spring in a compact seal cavity. Common applications include swimming pool pumps, chemical pumps, sea water pumps and gear boxes.

Temperature Range-
-30°F to 250°F with Buna "N" bellows
-65°F to 400°F with Viton "A" bellows
-28°F to 248°F with EPDM bellows
Speed Range-
0 to 1,500 F.P.M. at seal face O.D.
(Depending on shaft size and RPM)

MEDIA

The standard seal can be used with most lubrication oils or water. Certain synthetic oils, and high temperature hydraulic fluids require special materials.
