FLANGED CARTRIDGE SEAL
IMPORTANT: It is recommended that the O.D. of the back-up washer or shaft shoulder make metal-to-metal contact with the mating ring. Diameter of the shoulder should be approximately .015" to .030" less then the mating ring diameter ("D").
GENERAL APPLICATION INFORMATION
Type MS2 flange-mounted cartridge seal is a complete package, totally enclosed in a steel or brass case. It has been designed and constructed for heavy duty service in gear boxes, speed reducers, heavy construction equipment, machine tools and garbage disposers.
Mating rings, seal, drive means, and flange mounting are assembled at the factory as one unit, making it easy to install and convenient for field service.
OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES
The MS2 seals are made to provide effective oil and lubricant retention over extended periods of service life under the most rugged conditions.
Pressure-
0 to 10 psi against spring - higher pressure with spring
Temperature- 0º to 250º F
Speed- 3,000 FPM at seal face
MEDIA
The standard seal can be used with most lubricating oils or water. Certain synthetic oils and high temperature hydraulic fluids require special materials.
CONSTRUCTION OF COMPONENTS
Case-
Cold rolled steel, cadmium plated, brass or Monel 400 Series
Diaphragm & gasket- Oil resistant synthetic rubber
- A variety of elastomers available.
Mating ring- Ni-resist, fine grain cast iron, tungsten
carbide, stainless steel or silicon carbide
Face- Carbon, silicon carbide
