CARTRIDGE SEAL
IMPORTANT:
We recommend the O.D. of the back-up washer or shaft shoulder
be of a size to make metal-to-metal contact with the mating ring.
The diameter of the shoulder should be approximately .015"
to .030" less than the mating ring diameter. ("F").
GENERAL APPLICATION INFORMATION
Type MS1 cartridge seal is totally enclosed in a steel or brass case. It is designed for gear boxes, construction equipment, machine tools, garbage disposers and other commercial or military applications.
Mating ring, seal and driving means are fully assembled in one unit for ease of installation and convenient field service.
OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES
The MS1 seals provide effective oil and lubricant retention over long periods of time and under rugged operating conditions.
Pressure-
0 to 10 psi against spring - higher pressure with spring
Temperature- 0ºF to 250ºF
Speed- 3000 FPM at seal face
MEDIA
The standard seal can be used with most lubrication oils or water. Certain synthetic oils, and high temperature hydraulic fluids require special materials.
CONSTRUCTION - COMPONENT MATERIALS
Case-
Cold rolled steel cadmium plated, brass, or Monel 400 Series.
Diaphragm & gaskets- Oil resistant synthetic rubber.
- A variety of elastomers available.
Mating ring- Ni-resist, fine grain cast iron, tungsten
carbide, stainless steel or silicon carbide.
Face- Carbon, silicon carbide
