TYPE VMS - 15 "VARIABLE MAGNETIC SEAL™ TECHNOLOGY"
The use of magnetic sealing devices have been around for many year. However, due to the lack of stronger magnetic materials on the market,only solid magnetic rings were used. The arrival of stronger materials enabling larger air gaps and the usage of individual magnets made it possible to vary the strength of the magnetic force, hence the name "Variable Magnetic Seal™" By varying the amount of force by the quantity, size of the magnets, magnetic pull can be adjusted. This not only creates the proper forces for a continuous engagement of the sealing sources, but also maximizes the life of you "Variable Magnetic Seal™". A patented design using round magnets inserted into a nonmagnetic carrier is the basis of "Variable Magnetic Seal™" technology developed by Norman Technology, Inc. The seal heads of the mating ring can be made from any of these nonmagnetic materials: carbon, brass, stainless, plastics, rubber and aluminum against a hardened carbon steel ring with a hard chrome plated and lapped face.

The "Variable Magnetic Seal™" operates in a minimum of space. It can replace existing lip-type seals where added life is required and leakage is critical. The mating ring will insert into any metallic or nonmetallic housing. Also, because of the adjustability of the magnets, close alignment is not required as when using "ALNICO" materials which have limited magnetic pull and require close proximity to each other to seal. In high speed applications where "O" rings are used to drive the magnets or mating ring tending to slip later, the "NTI Variable Magnetic Seal™" can be provided with a positive drive. The components are lightweight and require no shielding. The VMS-15 Seal can be made in any size. Ask about specific "Variable Magnetic Seals™" to meet your requirements. Available in metric sizes.
